Modern technology has made available over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids, at considerably less cost to consumers. We need federal legislation to make them widely available. It would be great if you could do one or more of the contact activities described below in the HLAA Call to Action. We’d really appreciate it. Every bit helps.

Help HLAA and Senators Warren and Grassley remove unnecessary barriers to getting hearing aids by having the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) create a new category of over-the-counter hearing aids.

Adults with untreated mild to moderate hearing loss need your help to pass the Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid Act of 2017. You might not need an OTC hearing aid, but think about your children, your friends and others who might not take that first step without an easy and affordable entry point. Consider the innovation in technology that has already started and will blossom when the market bursts with new devices. We believe this expanding market will also benefit the hearing aid market with innovation and lower cost for all hearing aids.

2. Find your U.S. Senator: https://www.senate.gov/senators/contact
3. Once you have found the official website for your representatives in Congress, visit the members’ contact page. You will be asked information about where you live and what topic you are writing about. Choose “Health” from the drop down list.
4. Then you can fill out the form by copying and pasting one of the letters we have drafted. Or you can write your own story, in your own words. Either way, send your message to Congress today supporting the Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid Act of 2017!
