Hello Everyone!
It is time to welcome you all back to our fall chapter meetings. Our first meeting will be on September 7. Meeting details have not changed. We will still be meeting at the Plymouth Congregational Christian Church at 2001 E. Grand River Avenue in Lansing. For those of you who may be attending for the first time, the church is located 1 mile west of Frandor. We will begin at 6:30 pm and end at 8:00 pm. A few of us will be setting up for the meeting starting around 6:00 pmso feel free to stop in early.
Meeting Topic:
A lot has been happening and you may have heard about some of it. Two different national groups (The President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology & The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine) have conducted studies and have made recommendations regarding the future of hearing health care. Some of the highlights from these reports include:
* No longer having to get a doctor’s approval or sign a waiver to purchase hearing aids.
* Unbundling of the cost of hearing aids so that we know exactly what we are paying for.
* Purchasing some devices (for people who have a hearing loss up to mild or moderate) over the counter, on line or by phone.
* Receiving your audiogram and hearing history so you can shop for the best hearing aid for you.
Come and learn about these changes and more. Some are already being put into effect.
Hope to see you next Wednesday!
